From The West or South
From the West - Knoxville, TN
Take I-40 to I-81 to I-26 (all interstates) into Johnson City, TN and follow the directions from I-26
From the South - Asheville, NC
Take I-40 to I-26 (all interstates) into Johnson City, TN and follow the directions from I-26
From I-26 - Johnson City, TN
- Take exit 24 from I-26. At the end of the ramp, turn right onto Hwy 321/67
- As you are coming into the downtown bear right at the Shell Station, bear right/straight ahead toward Old Town of Elizabethton (Pro Sound on right)
- Continue past covered bridge to stop light (police station on right).
- Turn right. You are back on Hwy 321/67.
- Go 4.5 miles to another Shell Station (on left). This is Hampton.
- Turn left. Go 15.1 miles alongside Watauga Lake, through Butler to Pine Orchard Road on Hwy 67 (321 turns off toward Boone).
You will cross the bridge over the lake and go through Butler past the Farmers State Bank .
The next turn is at Pine Orchard Road, will be approximately 3 miles .
- Turn left at Pine Orchard Road.
(If you come to Watson's Grocery on the right, you have missed the turn)
- Continue on Pine Orchard Road 1.6 miles to Moreland Drive.
- Turn left on Moreland Drive (doublewide house on corner) and go 2 tenths of a mile to Iron Mountain Inn and Creekside Chalet drive on right.
- Turn right on the driveway, go to the top of the mountain.
From The North or East
From the North I-81 to Mountain City, TN
- Take Exit 29 from I-81 in Virginia and get on to Hwy 91 east (toward Damascus, VA/Mountain City, TN).
- Stay on Hwy 91 to the stop sign at Hwy 421.
There is a new section of road starting at Silver Lake gas station as you come into Mountain City
- Turn LEFT, onto Hwy 421 and go to the 2nd light
- Turn RIGHT onto Hwy 67 south/west (Rite Aid Pharmacy on right corner) and follow directions from Mountain City, TN below
From the East, Boone, NC, to Mountain City, TN
- Take Hwy 421 from Boone, NC toward Mountain City. After crossing the state line, the next turn is at the 4th stop light, at the Rite Aid Pharmacy.
- Turn left onto Hwy 67 and follow directions from Mountain City, TN
From Mountain City
- Turn RIGHT. Continue straight down Hwy 67 for about 13 miles to Pine Orchard Road. Watson's Grocery store on the left is just before the turn.
- Continue on Pine Orchard Road 1.6 miles to Moreland Drive.
- Turn left on Moreland Drive (doublewide trailer house on corner) and go 2 tenths of a mile to Iron Mountain Inn and Creekside Chalet drive on right.
- Turn right on the driveway, go to the top of the mountain.
