What to do while you are visiting

During their Tennessee mountain vacation at the Iron Mountain Inn, visitors find something for everyone to do. With an endless variety of outdoor activities, historic attractions, live music and theater performances, auctions, antiquing, festivals and more, you’ll discover plenty of things to do in Northeast Tennessee.

There are hiking trails on the Inn's property as well as nearby sections of the Appalachian Trail, Gentry Creek Falls Trail, and Virginia Creeper Trail.

Mountain City's Heritage Hall Performance Center hosts local and regional talent at a reasonable price. Appalachian State University in Boone, NC has a summer music, dance and art festival in June, and don't forget Trade Days Indian Pow Wow, Old Butler Days and the Cranberry Festival in Shady Valley.

You can go horseback riding and for hay rides at Dogwood Springs Ranch next door or rent a pontoon boat at Fish Springs Marina and cruise around beautiful Watauga Lake.
